Questions, answered
Everything you're wondering.
First floats come with first-time questions. Here are the ones we hear most. Still curious? Just ask us.
Is floating the same as sensory deprivation?
Not quite. And we prefer the more accurate term. Floating reduces the constant stream of sensory input modern life pours on you, rather than depriving you of your senses. Researchers call it Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST). Most people find it deeply calming and restorative.
What if I'm claustrophobic?
This is the most common first-timer worry, and it rarely survives the first float. Your suite is spacious, and you're completely in control: keep a light on, leave the lid or door open, and sit up whenever you like. You're never closed in against your will.
What if I feel overwhelmed during my float?
You can open the pod, turn the lights on, or step out at any moment. Nothing about the experience is locked or fixed: you remain fully in control the entire time.
Do I wear anything in the tank?
Your suite is fully private, so most people float without clothing for the most seamless, distraction-free experience. If you'd be more comfortable in a swimsuit, you're welcome to wear one.
What if I fall asleep?
Completely normal and completely safe: the salt keeps you afloat. Many people drift into a light-sleep state and come out feeling unusually refreshed.
How clean is the water?
Between every session the water passes through a four-stage filtration process: mechanical filtration down to 1 micron, ozone, UV light, and hydrogen peroxide. No chlorine or bromine. On top of that, 1,200 pounds of Epsom salt is itself a natural sanitizer. Turnover takes about 30 minutes, which is why we space appointments. Our standards go well beyond industry norms.
Can I float during my period?
Yes. Just follow the same precautions you would for swimming in a pool.
Is floating safe during pregnancy?
Many expecting parents love floating: weightlessness takes real pressure off the body. Because every pregnancy is different, we ask that you check with your doctor first.
Is there an age limit?
Guests under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver. For younger children, we recommend a parent stay in the room during the session.
Are there height or weight limits?
Most people float comfortably. Guests up to around 450 pounds and 6'3" or taller have floated with ease, and our deluxe suite offers extra room if you'd like it.
How long is a session?
Plan for about 90 minutes total: a 60-minute float, plus 15 minutes before and after to shower and settle. Arrive 15 minutes early for your first visit.
How often should I float?
Whatever fits your life. Many people start with a single float, then settle into a monthly rhythm, which is exactly what the membership is built for. Athletes often float more frequently around hard training or competition.
